I am a friend, a Soror,
A Godmommy, an auntie.
An educator, a femtor, a bridgebuilder.
An heir of the Black Radical Tradition
Of all the lessons and warnings
And hopes and fears of my People.
I am working to become an intellectual
A writer
Who writes truths worth telling
In ways that make people feel things
Do things
Dream things
Create things
And worlds and futures
That our babies deserve.
